Rhythm of The Night
So I’m wide awake thinking
Of a certain mountain girl
I hear the whisper of the autumn leaves
As they gently fall
The song they sing
Tells of many things
Of love and longing,
desire and belonging
This Princess on the mountainside
where bears and turkeys
doth reside
She lays awake and in her head
Ideas swirl on what’s ahead
Futures come and futures go
Some in dreams and
Some she knows
As she lies there
in repose.
As sleep oertakes and dreams reign strong
Our Princess knows her
heart’s true song
The rhythm of the night’s desire
Stokes the flames and raise the fires
Our Princess dreams
Of days to come
Of candied love
and snow melt streams
As sleep does come
on padded toes
Our Mountain Princess
Yes, she knows.
